As someone who’s been a competitive sportsman for most my life, I can honestly tell you that I don’t even know with certainty where the saying “it’s all in the wrist” comes from, other than that I am pretty confident it is at least from sport or some sport. I just know it is now likely used inappropriately as a meme and i find it funny every time.
